DIY Christmas Decorations

  1. Make your own pallet Christmas tree

Got some old pallets lying around? This is the perfect Christmas decoration for your garden or porch.

Have a good look at the image. First, disassemble your pallet, decide how big you want your tree to be and then cut the back of the tree (or the trunk) to size. Then lay out the other boards that will be the ‘branches’ and cut them in descending sizes. Screw each board to the ‘trunk’ before decorating the tree as you wish – use super glue to attach buttons and to place a star on the top of the tree.

  1. Easy peasy sock snowmen

A great one to get the kids involved. You know those annoying single socks you keep finding in the washing machine? We have a great way for you to use them this Christmas.

First, cut off the top of the sock from the foot.

Turn the sock inside out and attach a rubber band tightly to the top of the sock.

Then turn the sock right-side out again.

Fill the sock with rice. Make sure to pack it down as you go so that it gets a nice round base.

Rubber band the other end of the sock closed and tie another rubber band about 3/4 of the way to the top, for the head of your snowman.

Now you need to give your sock snowman a bit of character!  Tie a scarf around your snowman’s neck using ribbon or a piece of material; add eyes and a nose using coloured pins, and buttons (using buttons). Use the toe of your cut socks to fashion a stocking cap.

You now have an adorable snowman to rest on your mantelpiece. We suggest you make him a few friends too!
